Things To Do Near Saratoga National Historical Park
There are many different ways to explore Saratoga National Historical Park. You may want to start by biking along the tour road to see the historical sites. You will also want to take time to climb the 188 steps at the Saratoga Monument to show respect for those who gave all for America’s independence. Visit the country estate of Philip Schuyler, constructed in 1777.

Victory Woods Trail
The Victory Woods Trail passes through the area where the British army surrendered to American soldiers on October 17, 1777. This trail starts near the Saratoga Monument and runs near Prospect Hill Cemetery. It ends near the northeast end of Victory Woods. There are interpretative signs along the path to help you understand the historical events that happened here.

Wilkinson Trail
The Wilkinson Trail allows you to explore sites on the northern edge of Saratoga Battlefield. There is a cell phone tour so that you can hear stories about what occurred at different locations as you walk along. This trail can get muddy, and there is a steep step of stairs that must be navigated. This hike starts a short distance south of the visitor center.

Liaison Trail
The Liaison Trail runs concurrent to the Wilkinson Trail initially, but it cuts across the historic Freeman Farm, which gives hikers the option for a shorter hike. This path passes through various terrain, and it can get muddy after rain and icy in the winter. After a see-saw battle at the Freeman Farm, the British stayed at this location for several days starting on September 19, 1777, instead of proceeding forward.

Zim Smith Bike Trail is an 11.5-mile bike trail that takes riders through Ballston Spa, Ballston, Malta, Clifton Park, the village of Round Lake, and Mechanicsville. The primarily wooded trail starts at Malta’s Shenantaha Creek Park. It also connects to many other courses.

The Luther Forest Mountain Bike Trail is primarily flat, but there are a few steep hills. Adding to the fun of this trail are logs and stumps to jump. This path crosses over itself several times and is easily accessible.
