Purtis Creek State Park is centered around a 355-acre lake fed by the Purtis Creek from which the area takes its name. Located in Eustace, Texas, near Odom and Athens, this state park has tons to offer visitors and campers looking for a freshwater escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The area that makes up Purtis Creek State Park is quite varied beyond the lake itself. There's plenty of space to enjoy the wilderness, the animals, the fresh air and more. Temperatures tend to be moderate most of the year with temperatures at the peak of summer getting fairly hot. RVers can stay at the nearly 57 RV campsites scattered throughout Purtis Creek State Park to get up close and personal with nature during their trip. These spots cost $20 per night and include electricity and water. In addition, 18 more sites are available only to tent campers with five including water and 13 being primitive sites with no amenities beyond a fire ring and grill. These spots go for $14 per night and $10 per night, respectively. Throughout the park, you'll also find restrooms, showers and picnic areas to use. The park is open to pets.
Texan RV Park
Texan RV Park is an expansive campground with tons to offer campers. RV spots cost $40 per night for back-in spots with an additional $5 for pull-thru spots. In addition to gorgeous scenery and a strategic location near Athens, the park has tons of amenities for campers that include free Wi-Fi, restrooms, showers, pet play areas and more.
Shiloh on the Lake
Shiloh on the Lake is a large RV park with a gorgeous lakeside view for campers and tons of amenities. The crystal-clear Cedar Creek Lake is the first thing most people notice when they find themselves here, the second being just how many ways to stay there are. In addition to RV sites with full hookups, there are also tent camping sites and cabins for rent. Camping in any of these ways grants you access to great amenities like showers, restrooms, a laundry facility, playground areas, a dog park, a volleyball court and much more to help you pass the time between events on your trip.

It's a popular spot for fishing, and you can also go boating, kayaking, swimming, and more down the Purtis Creek. How to Get to
Purtis Creek State Park
In order to get to Purtis Creek State Park, you'll want to start in Eustace, Texas. You can easily get there from a major city in the Dallas/Fort Worth area by traveling east on U.S. 175 as the highway travels right into the town. From there, head north on FM 316 for around 3.5 miles before turning left and driving a short ways up to the gate.

Entering Purtis Creek State Park
You'll be able to enter Purtis Creek State Park at the end of your route on FM 316. The entrance is on the left side of the road. The park is open every day from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and costs $5 to enter, but anyone 12 and under gets in free of charge.
