Situated in scenic Tioga County, Hill Creek State Park opened in 1983 and is named for the creek that runs through it. Wildlife thrives in the 407-acre park and its surroundings, as many visitors may see deer, a flock of wild turkeys, or a transient black bear. It's also the perfect habitat for woodchucks, rabbits, and pileated woodpeckers. The park is centered on the 137-acre warm-water Hills Creek Lake, offering excellent fishing and boating opportunities. Cities near the park are Mansfield, Tioga, and Wellsboro.

Bucktail Camping Resort
Located six miles from Hill Creek you'll find Bucktail Camping Resort. Some campsites offer sewer hookups for your recreational vehicle, and the majority provide full hookups that place you in the heart of the Tioga County countryside. At this resort, you can do your laundry, connect to Wi-Fi, and shop in the general store. Pets are welcome but must be on a leash, and you can go fishing, zip-lining, or play a round of miniature golf. Although the campground has 100 acres filled with fun activities, there are some great destinations within driving distance of Bucktail. Attractions nearby include golf, racing, fishing, and historical sites.
Ives Run Campground
Ives Run Campground sits on the eastern shore of Hammond Lake in north-central Pennsylvania. The facility has campsites with partial hookups and full hookups that are somewhat surrounded by lush-forested ridges of Pennsylvania's Endless Mountains region. The lake offers recreation for the whole family, including swimming, hiking, boating, picnicking, and wildlife observation. The campground provides a dump station, boat ramp, showers, restrooms, and a playground.
Scenic View Campground
Scenic View Campground is tucked between three of the county's largest lakes and premier recreational areas and nestled in the heart of Pennsylvania Grand Canyon Country. The campground is pet-friendly and offers full-and partial-hookup sites. Water sports, a game room, a swimming pool, and a playground keep youngsters happy. Other amenities include covered pavilions, a laundromat, and a general store.

Whether you prefer to walk around in the wilderness or be out on the water, Hills Creek State Park features plenty of activities to keep you occupied for days. Hiking trails take you through diverse forest habitats from stand hardwoods to hemlock swamps, marsh areas, and along the lake shoreline. The 137-acre lake provides excellent fishing for warm-water species like carp, yellow perch, largemouth bass, crappie, and bullhead catfish. The beach is great for soaking up the sun and swimming. During the winter, the surrounding hills offer excellent skiing and sledding opportunities.
How to Get to
Hills Creek State Park
The state park is just north of U.S. 6 and midway between Wellsboro and Mansfield. It can also be reached from PA 287 between the town of Tioga and Wellsboro. If you're traveling from the city of Wellsboro, you'll want to take Charleston Street to Hills Creek Lake Road in Charleston Township. Make a slight left onto Hills Creek Lake Road, and travel for about three miles. Turn right onto Spillway Road/T537, and then shortly after that, turn left onto Kellys Swamp Lane. Follow the signs to the state park.

Hills Creek State Park boasts a large campground with 99 total campsites, and 72 of them can accommodate RV camping. There are 15 RV sites with full hookups as well as 22 with only electrical hookups.
Hills Creek State Park is inhabited by many cool wildlife species. The park is home to an active beaver colony as well as muskrats, great blue herons, rabbits, bald eagles, wild turkeys, deer, black bears, and many other creatures.
While the summers are moderate at Hills Creek State Park, the winters can be very harsh. Between December and February, the temperature often drops below 20 degrees and heavy snow is common. Summers in the park rarely exceed 80 degrees.
You'll find the most pleasant conditions if you visit the park during summer. Between June and August, the weather will be at its warmest for fishing and swimming. However, the winter months are perfect for snowmobiling, ice fishing, and skiing.
Pets are allowed in the park as long as they are on leashes of six feet or less at all times. However, they are not permitted in the sandy beach area or the swimming area.
