Utopia is a small town in southern Texas in the northwestern portion of Live Oak County. The town was named after the utopian novel by Sir Thomas More. In 1881, the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway was built through Utopia, which helped make it an important shipping point for corn and cotton. The railroad also brought many settlers to the area. Utopia became an incorporated city on January 2, 1914.
