Friendship Hill National Historic Site

Friendship Hill National Historic Site is a location that preserves the estate of Albert Gallatin. He was the Secretary of the Treasury during the Jefferson and Madison administrations. Albert Gallatin is remembered for funding Lewis and Clark’s expedition as well as for the purchase of the Louisiana Territory. He built his estate to provide a place for Europeans fleeing the French Revolution to stay. It became a national historic site in 1976.

How To Get To Friendship Hill National Historic Site

From downtown Pittsburgh, you will want to take U.S. 51 South until you reach Uniontown. Then, take U.S. 119 South to Point Marion. Follow PA 166 North, and in about three miles, you will see the park entrance on the left. 

Friendship Hill National Historic Site is a day-use area, so it is open from sunrise until sunset daily. During the colder months, which are from October until April, the historic site is only open on the weekends.
