Inside Lake Sylvia State Park
Paying tribute to its history as a logging camp, the park designers left behind some of the old logging equipment at Lake Sylvia State Park, and it's one of the park's more unique facets. Hiking trails ranging from 0.5- to 5-miles long are available. Anglers regularly pull rainbow trout up to 10-inches long from the stocked lake and some coastal cutthroat trout. The old lumber roads make this park a favorite with mountain bikers who love to jump over roots along the trail’s path.

Lake Sylvia State Park was originally the homestead of Michael F. Lurack, who started living at this location in 1868. Lake Sylvia was formed when the dam was built on the river in 1909 to provide electricity for Montesano. The power-generation room was the home of the Wilder family for more than 20 years. Mrs. Wilder was the only female at that time to operate a power plant. In the 1930s, the logging industry moved into the area, and you can still see remnants of their presence today when you visit the park. This quiet park is also a great place to go fishing, biking, picnicking, and more. If you have been to Lake Sylvia State Park, then share your experience on social media. Tag RVshare in your posts.
