- Battle Ground Lake State Park
Situated north of Vancouver, WA, Battle Ground Lake State Park provides 280 acres of land nestled among evergreens and on a lake within an ancient volcanic crater. It is a popular camping area within the western foothills of the Cascade Mountain Range and near the famous Columbia River. Named after a confrontation between the Klickitat Tribe Americans and the U.S. Army in 1855, the park allows you to enjoy water sports in the caldera of a volcano that erupted 100,000 years ago during the Boring Lava Volcanics. You can also camp and explore along trail systems on foot, bike, or horseback. The park lets you experience the Pacific Northwest's fauna and flora within miles of the Vancouver-Portland area. You can enjoy camping and using the park during the day anytime throughout the year, but concessions and rentals are available only between April and Memorial Day.
