Stillwater State Park RV & Campground Guide

Vermont

Tucked into the tree-covered hills in northeastern Vermont's Groton State Forest, Stillwater State Park is one of the state's classic wilderness escapes. The pure waters of Lake Groton reflect the dense forests that grow right down to the shore, creating a picturesque backdrop for swimming, fishing, hiking, and biking. This park is remote but not isolated—it's part of a broad local recreation area designed to make the state forest more accessible. In fact, your entrance fee gets you into the six other nearby parks. Plan your visit from mid-May to mid-September; during the rest of the year, heavy snow makes the roads impassable. The tiny hamlet of Marshfield is close by, and Montpelier is just 25 miles west.
