A day-use park on the shores of Lake Champlain, Kingsland Bay State Park is the sixth-largest natural freshwater lake in the U.S. Lake Champlain is a prominent part of the rich history of Vermont, with a ferry service that has been around for 200 years, a lake-bed collection of 300 shipwrecks and proximity to the Revolutionary War-era Fort Ticonderoga. Lake Champlain was also an important part of the Underground Railroad. Kingsland Bay State Park is conveniently located next to the cities of Burlington and Vergennes and lies next to the Adirondacks region of New York. The weather is mild in the summer and refreshingly cool during Vermont's beautiful fall season.

Kingsland Bay State Park does not have camping sites, and you may want to enjoy the park over several days. Fortunately, traveling in your own RV or a rental RV from RVshare is an ideal way to stay at a nearby RV campground and be able to spend all the time you want at the park.
North Beach Campground
North Beach Campground is spread out over 45 acres of land on the shores of Lake Champlain. The views of the lake are beautiful, and this is a quiet and restful park in the midst of a natural setting. You can hike or bike along the trails, and the lake offers the opportunity to indulge in various water-based activities. It's just a short bike ride to town, and Lake Champlain is at your back door. There is even free coffee in the office.

Being on the lake is the biggest advantage of staying at this family-friendly park, and you can fish, swim, and boat. Outdoor activities include horseshoes and basketball. Your kids will love the tame rabbits on-site, and everyone will like walking on the nature trails.

Kingsland Bay State Park is located on Kingsland Bay at Lake Champlain and offers easy access to the lake and also features many other activities. You can rent kayaks and canoes to take out on the water, and there are many walking trails of varying difficulties that traverse the cliffs along the shore or run alongside the shores. You can enjoy fishing, swimming, and boating, and there are several event buildings that can be rented for special occasions.
How to Get to
Kingsland Bay State Park
From Ferrisburgh, you will head west on Rt. 7 on Little Chicago Road for a little over 1 mile. You will then travel north onto Hawkins Road for 3 miles and then right onto Kingsland Bay State Park Road to the park entrance.

Kingsland Bay State Park is a seasonal park. It is open from the end of May to the beginning of October. If you want to avoid crowds, consider visiting after the kids return to school in September.
During the park's operating season, expect a mild, warm climate and average daily temperatures in the 70s. The winter months are frigid and snowy, which is why the park is seasonal.
Kingsland Bay State Park is home to moose and black bears as well as smaller mammals, such as foxes and squirrels. It's also home to wood ducks, snow geese, and horned and red-necked grebes.
Since the park is day-use only, you won't find any RV camping sites. If you want to camp near the park, consider the North Beach Campground or the Sunrise Rock RV Park.
