- Half Moon Pond State Park
Stretched along the banks of a picturesque pond deep in the forests of central Vermont, Half Moon Pond State Park is a postcard-perfect escape from modern life. Canoes glide across the water, families swim from the sandy beaches, and hikers explore the trails that wind through the dense stands of trees. In the fall, the changing leaves transform the forest into a brilliantly colored wonderland. This is a park within a park; it's located inside the enormous Bomoseen State Park in Fair Haven. The small town of Middlebury is 25 miles north, and Burlington is 35 miles beyond that.
