The park was founded in 1959 on an area of 54 acres of land that was purchased from Birchcliff, a private summer resort. Since then, Grand Isle State Park has been revamped, and it currently boasts a land size of 226 acres. The park is located near several cities, including Burlington and Montpelier, Vermont. This means that you'll have access to plenty of activities and amenities in the surrounding area.

Serenity Meadows RV Park and Campground
Serenity Meadows is a beautiful RV campground near Grand Isle State Park. If you want to enjoy fireflies at night and the tranquility of suburban meadows, this is the campground for you. You and your family can take in the calming sounds of the nearby babbling brook as you get away from busy city life. During your stay, you can also enjoy a walk in the on-site garden or take part in hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, and skiing. It will cost you $40/night to stay in this campground.

Grand Isle State Park
Inside Grand Isle State Park
If you are looking to enjoy some quality time with your family, or just trying to re-connect with your adventurous side, Grand Isle State Park is perfect with its wide array of outdoor activities for visitors. This recreation area features the second-largest campground in the state, and there is an easy nature trail in the park that is ideal for hiking with your family. The park offers 4,150 feet of Lake Champlain shoreline for shore fishing. If you want, you can also go hiking, swimming, and boating, or you can play volleyball with your loved ones.
How to Get to
Grand Isle State Park
There are two different ways to get to this park. If you are traveling from the south, you can take I-89 to exit 17 and continue west on U.S. Route 2. You will see a flashing light at the junction of U.S. Route 2 and VT Route 314. You will find the park on the right side two miles past this light.
If you are coming from the north side, you can take U.S. Route 2 through the Champlain Islands and make your way to the towns of Alburgh, North Hero, and Grand Isle. The park will be roughly 2.5 miles on the left after the flashing light near the Grand Isle Elementary School.
Entering Grand Isle State Park
Like most state parks, Grand Isle State Park charges a fee for camping and day-use activities. The office hours are 8 a.m. - 9 p.m., and campers are encouraged to arrive during these hours.
