Inside Possum Kingdom State Park

Inside Possum Kingdom State Park, you can fish for bass, crappie, and catfish. Use the boat ramp to launch your boat and enjoy some time spent on the lake. Some of the best fishing occurs in water between 25- and 50-feet deep. You can also hike or bike on nine different trails with most offering beautiful views of the lake. After you get hot, change into your swimsuit for a dip in the water.

Possum Kingdom State Park

You can reach Possum Kingdom State Park from Fort Worth, Texas, by taking Interstate 30 West. Merge onto Interstate 20. Get off at Exit 405, and turn right on Ric Williamson Highway. Take it until it intersects with US 180 West in Mineral Wells, Texas, where you need to turn left. Drive to State Park Road 33. Turn right, and you will reach the park in about 16.5 miles.

This park is easy to reach from Wichita Falls, Texas. Get on US 281 South, and go to Graham, Texas. In Graham, follow TX 16. Turn a slight right onto FM 1287 South. Continue straight to get on FM 1148. Turn left onto FM 3253 South. Turn left onto State Park Road 33, and you will see the park on your left.

This 1,528.7-acre state park opened to the public in 1950. Construction of the lake started in 1936 and was completed in 1941.
