Meridian State Park in Texas was established in 1935, and since then, many people have enjoyed spending time at the 72-acre lake there. This park is located at the top of the Texas Hill Country, which is about 13.5 miles northwest of Clifton, 45 miles northwest of Waco and 132 miles north of Austin. It features two hiking trails, one of which is wheelchair-accessible. You can also rent canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards at the park or bring your own.

Bosque Bottoms
This RV park is located in the heart of Meridian. At the end of October, it hosts the National Championship Barbecue Cookoff. At other times of the year, you can use the pavilion at Bosque Bottoms campground to hold family reunions or gather with friends. The west side of the park has river frontage. All sites come with full hookups, and they start at $25 per night.

What to Do at
Meridian State Park
Inside Meridian State Park
Despite its small size, there are lots of things to do in Meridian State Park. You can go fishing in Lake Meridian for catfish, largemouth bass, and crappie; this lake is known to yield 23-inch-long largemouth bass and 30.25-inch-long carp. This no-wake lake is a great place to try stand-up paddleboarding or paddle a canoe or kayak. While there are no lifeguards on duty, you can go swimming at this state park. You can also hike around the lake on the 2.2-mile Bosque Trail or take shorter trails in the park. From March to July, you may see the endangered golden-cheeked warblers nesting there, and you can see other birds throughout the year.
How to Get to
Meridian State Park
It is easy to reach this state park from Waco. Take U.S. 84 West and turn right on Highway 6 at Woodway. Go north for 41.8 miles and turn left on East Highway 22 West. In 2.5 miles, turn right on Park Road 7 North to reach this park.
If you are coming to the park from Hico, Texas, or other western destinations, then take Highway 6 South and turn right on Park Road 7 North to reach the park.
