Lake Tawakoni State Park is a beautiful RV and campground site in Hunt County, TX, about 12 miles west of Emory and 55 miles northwest of Dallas. This 376-acre forested state park on the south-central shore of Lake Tawakoni was established in February 2002 under a lease agreement between the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the Sabine River Authority. Like other state parks in Texas, Lake Tawakoni State Park often holds several events throughout the year, including the First Day Hike every first day of the year and the Twinkle Tour every December.
In addition to having a sizeable part of Lake Tawakoni, most parts of the 376-acre Lake Tawakoni State Park are covered with regrowth forest and creek oak woodlands. This park is also known as the home to the largest spider web ever documented, following the discovery of a colossal web that extended over 200 feet in 2007. The park is close to Dallas, a vast metropolitan city known for spectacular sightseeing venues.
