Standing Stone State Park is a public recreation area located in Hilham, a city of Overton County, Tennessee. The state park contains a total land area of 855 acres along the shore of the 69-acre Standing Stone Lake, a man-made attraction. The recreation and lake are surrounded by the Standing State Forest, which spans 11,000 acres and offers beautiful scenery. New Deal initiatives in the 1930s aimed to help impoverished farmers and restore forests from heavily degraded areas, leading to the development of the park and forest. Some fun activities that you can look forward to during your stay here include canoeing, hiking, picnicking, swimming, mountain biking, and water skiing. A few cities you can access easily from Standing Stone State Park for supplies or shopping include Livingston, Burristown, and Dodson Branch, Tennessee.

If you are looking to go hiking at Standing Stone State Park, you can explore miles of trails that are maintained on the premises. The most popular one is the Lake Trail, which heads down from the visitor center to Standing Stone Dam and runs parallel to most of the lake's north shore. The 8-mile Cooper Mountain Loop Trail, which runs up the mountain, is the longest one at the state park. Standing Stone Lake is a popular attraction that many visitors use for boating, fishing, and swimming. Seasonal events that take place at the public recreation area each year include the National Rolley Hole Marbles Championship, Spring Naturalist Rally, and Standing Stone Car Show.

Two major cities that are located close to Standing Stone State Park include Nashville, Tennessee, and Louisville, Kentucky. On the way from Nashville, start by getting onto I-40 E/I-65 S. After following I-40 E to TN-111 N in Cookeville, take exit 288 from I-40 E. Follow TN-111 N and TN-52 W to TN-136 S in Allons to arrive at the destination.
On the route from Louisville, start by getting onto I-65 S from W Liberty St. After following I-65 S to KY-90 E/Mammoth Cave Rd in Cave City, take exit 53 from I-65 S. Get on Cumberland Pkwy from KY-90 E and US-68 E/Veterans Outer Loop. After continuing on Cumberland Pkwy to KY-90 E/Burkesville Rd, take exit 14 from Cumberland Pkwy. Continue on KY-90 E/Burkesville Rd, then take State Hwy 839, State Hwy 163/Celina Rd, and TN-52 E to TN-136 S in Allons to arrive at the destination.

Standing Stone State Park is open year-round. The peak season is from spring to late summer. The park is famous for the annual National Rolley Hole Marbles Championship, which usually takes place in September.
Bird-watchers will enjoy spotting Wood Thrush, Baltimore Oriole, Cerulean Warbler, and Northern Parula. Other birds found in the park include the Kentucky Warbler, Black-and-White Warbler, Hooded Warbler, and Yellow Warbler. Wild turkeys and deer also call this park home.
Standing Stone State Park has 36 campsites for RVs, tents, and trailers. Each site has a picnic table, a grill, and water/electric hookups. RVs cannot exceed 45 feet. There is a central dump station, and bathhouses are available.
Camping reservations are required, and you can book them up to one year in advance. The reservation fee is $5. You can cancel reservations up to two days before arrival to receive a full refund minus the $5 reservation fee.
Four-legged family members may stay Standing Stone State Park. They must be on a leash or restrained and supervised during their stay. Owners are required to clean up after their pets.
