Paris Landing State Park RV & Campground Guide
Tennessee
Paris Landing State Park is an example of the benefits earned when collective action intervenes to mitigate mother nature's harmful effects. In the early 1900s, the Tennessee River ran uninhibited season after season, destroying property and eroding farmlands, leading to injuries and deaths. To answer these issues, the government established the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), which developed a series of dams to generate electric power while controlling water flow. Kentucky Dam was the last dam created along the river, resulting in Kentucky Lake's creation. The 841-acre Paris Landing State Park now sits at the lake's widest point. The park's picturesque location brings visitors to nearby towns like Buchanan, TN, from larger and more distant communities such as Clarksville and Jackson.
