Located near the towns of Plum Branch and Parksville, this South Carolina state park occupies the peninsula near Lake Thurmond. Since the park is surrounded by water, it is the perfect spot for water-based fun, such as fishing, lakefront camping, and boating. You can access the lake from the two private boat ramps. These facilities include modern restrooms with hot showers. The park also offers two dump stations for RV travelers. Heritage RV Park
For those who want to get out of town, you might want to consider a stay at Heritage RV Park. This RV campground features 50 sites that can fit all those big rigs. This Augusta campground is a few minutes from Interstate 20, and it is close to all the stores, restaurants, and attractions in the area. All the sites have full hookups with 30/50-amp electricity, water, and sewer. At the premium spots, you can enjoy a little more serenity under the stars or spend some time relaxing at the beautiful picnic facilities. The daily rates start at $40 per night.

Lick Fork Lake Recreation Area
Those campers who want a primitive campground should check out Lick Fork Lake Recreation Area. This campground is perfect for those boondockers. There are only nine RV sites with no hookups. However, you are close to the park's hiking trails and fishing pier. You can even launch your boat from the park's ramps. There are a few comfort stations with vault toilets near the campground. If you plan to stay at this site, the campground is only open from May to November. The daily camping fee is $7.

Hamilton Branch is known for its water activities on Lake Thurmond. However, there is plenty of fun for those who want to stay on land. Hamilton Branch offers group picnic shelters and short bike trails. On the trail, you can hike or bike to the connector portion that links to the 12-mile Stevens Creek Bike Trail.
How to Get to
Hamilton Branch State Park
If you are traveling from Augusta on Interstate 20, you will want to take Exit 200. Turn right onto Georgia Highway 100/River Watch Parkway. At this point, you will have to stay on the road until you reach Highway 28/Furys Ferry Road. Make a right and drive for 19 miles. Once you see the signs, you can follow them into the park. The Hamilton Branch State Park entrance will be on the left.
