- Rocky Point State Park
The Rocky Point State Park is a passive use area that was once an amusement park where thousands enjoyed themselves every year. Sitting just 13 miles from Providence, RI, and inside the city limits of Warwick, RI, on the Narragansett Bay shore, the park attracted crowds for over a century before closing. Today, the park is silent, with ghosts of rides still evident among what is left of their structures. It's a fascinating reminder of a time when amusement parks and picnic extravaganzas were common among the New England crowd. You can observe, but not remove, pieces of the old rides, wildlife, and plants as you walk the grounds on the paved pathways.
