Worlds End State Park is a wonderful year-round destination that attracts thousands of visitors each year with its world-class hiking, stunning waterfalls, and scenic views of gently rolling hillsides, green canyons, and forested valleys. This 780-acre park is located in northern Pennsylvania, and it first opened in 1932. The area has been home to several indigenous populations over the years, including the Iroquois and, later on, the Shawnee and Lenape. Nearby state parks you may also want to visit include Mount Pisgah State Park and Ricketts Glen State Park.

RV Resorts & Campsites in Worlds End State Park
The park's campground can accommodate both tents and RVs. There are 70 sites to choose from, and about half of these have electricity hookups. Water, showers, a dump station, and ADA-accessible restrooms with flush toilets are available. The maximum RV length varies, but some of the campsites in Loop A can accommodate RVs up to 80 feet in length, though most are smaller. Note that sites at the Worlds End State Park do not allow pets. In addition to the campground, 19 rustic cabins are available to rent year-round.
What to Do at
Worlds End State Park
Start your day at the visitor's center and check the park's event schedule to see if you can learn more about the ecology and natural history of the park by joining in one of the park's educational and interpretive programs. These are usually offered in the summer. Kids will love seeing the taxidermied animals at the center, and you can also pick up a souvenir at the gift shop. At the park, you can Stroll along the old Pioneer Road, once used by the area's first European settlers. In addition, you can have a meal in the picnic area or grab a snack from the concession stand near the swimming beach. Before you leave, drive or walk through the lovely Forksville Covered Bridge, built in 1850 and crosses over Loyalsock Creek.

Fishing
There are several options for fishing from the shore at Worlds End State Park. Double Run Creek, which feeds into Loyalsock Creek, is stocked with trout. Fly fishing is also possible here.
Geocaching
Start at the park's Visitor Center to find clues that will lead you to a fossil-themed cache that is hidden within the park. Once you find it, you'll be asked to make some notes in the logbook and then re-hide the cache so that the next adventurer can enjoy the thrill of discovering it anew.
Flora and Fauna
While exploring the second-growth forest, a few trees you will see include red maple, tulip poplar, eastern white pine, yellow birch, white ash, black cherry, and eastern hemlock. When it comes to fauna, the park is home to a huge population of white-tailed deer. Other animals that make their home in the forest include groundhogs, black bears, bobcats, coyotes, and many squirrels.
Hiking
Most of the park's 20 miles of trails include uphill climbs through the hills. High Rock Trail is a 1-mile trail that climbs above the High Rock Falls waterfall and then peaks at the High Rock Vista viewpoint. To see the old Pioneer Road, head out along the 3.3-mile-long Worlds End Trail. Watch out for the occasional timber rattlesnakes if you're hiking during the warmer summer months.
Swimming
A dam along Loyalsock Creek was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in order to create a swimming area, which spans about one acre along the creek. When swimming, note that there are no lifeguards on duty. The swimming area is only open from late May to mid-September and closes at sunset.
Boating
From March to May, you can go whitewater boating in the creek. However, because of the swiftly rushing waters, you should be experienced and use a kayak rather than a canoe.
How to Get to
Worlds End State Park
Worlds End State Park is located near the town of Forksville in Pennsylvania along the PA-154. If you're coming from Williamsport or the West, start out on the I-180 E and get off on Exit 21 for PA-87 N/Loyalsock Ave. From there, you'll take PA-87 south and then take a right on PA-154. The park entrance and the Visitor Center will be on your left after about two miles.
Entering Worlds End State Park
If you're coming from the north, you'll pass by the Visitor Center to find the campground about a mile further down on the right-hand side of the 154. Parking is available near the day-use area and at the Visitor Center. Most of the roads in the park are paved and wide enough for RVs to navigate easily.
There are no entrance fees, parking fees, or day-use fees at Worlds End State Park. Campsites cost $31 a night.
Frequently Asked Questions About Worlds End State Park
The best time of year to visit depends on what type of activities you enjoy. Snowmobiling and cross-country skiing can be enjoyed during the winter. Spring is best for whitewater boating, and in the fall, you'll be treated to the magnificent red, yellow, and orange hues of the park's trees as they prepare to lose their leaves for the winter. To swim in the creek's swimming area, you'll have to visit between late May and mid-September.
Visitors usually spot lots of red and gray squirrels as well as white-tailed deer. Occasionally, a herd of wild turkeys stroll through the area, as they are not particularly shy of humans. In total, more than 200 species of birds can be spotted in the park, including three species of owls and the state bird of Pennsylvania, the ruffled grouse.
The sites at the Worlds End State Park campground can all accommodate either tents or RVs. However, amenities may vary.
The nightly cost to stay overnight varies, depending on your chosen site and time of year. Sites with electricity only cost $31 per night or $182 per week. The cost to make a reservation is $6.50.
Your pets are welcome to join you at the park if you are visiting during the day, but you must keep them on a leash at all times and be prepared to clean up after them. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed to stay overnight with you in the campground.
