Lyman Run State Park is a 595-acre Pennsylvania public park surrounded by a hardwood forest of maple and cherry trees. It includes the 45-acre Lyman Run Lake, a popular destination among visitors for waterfront activities. The park is named after Major Isaac Lyman, a veteran of the American Revolution and one of the first people to settle in Potter County, Pennsylvania. He is now recognized as Potter County's founder, giving the recreation area a compelling level of historical significance. If you need to reach a nearby city, some of the closest are Coudersport, Lock Haven, and Shinglehouse, Pennsylvania.

Potter County Family Campground
Potter County Family Campground offers the unique, refreshing atmosphere of the Susquehannock State Forest and the Allegheny Mountains. Some amenities you can enjoy if you stay here include a camp store, fire rings, and a playground. If you want to have a party or celebration during your visit, you can even arrange a game of laser tag at the campground for $6 per person per hour. Allegheny River Campground
At Allegheny River Campground, you can participate in activities such as fly fishing, river tubing, and stocked fishing on the Allegheny River. A few amenities to look forward to here include a swimming pool, a playground, a fountain, laundry service, a mini-golf course, and a dog park. The RV park also hosts seasonal events each year, including bingo on Mother's Day Weekend and a corn hole tournament in May. Inside Lyman Run State Park
Lyman Run Lake is a popular attraction at the state park, and motorized boats are permitted as long as you are using an electric motor. Kayaks, rowboats, and canoes are also available for rent near the lake for a more laid-back experience. Visitors often head there to fish, and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission stocks the lake with palomino and rainbow trout each fishing season. Hunting is a very popular activity at Lyman Run State Park, and there are about 500 acres on which it is allowed. For a relaxing afternoon under the trees, you can spend time at the central, shaded picnic area or one of the many picnic tables located throughout the state park.
How to Get to
Lyman Run State Park
Two major U.S. cities you can conveniently travel to Lyman Run State Park from include Cleveland, Ohio, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. If you are coming from Cleveland, start by getting onto Highway 2 E from W 3rd St. After following I-90 E and I-86 E to NY-16 S/N Union Street Ext in Olean, take exit 26 from I-86 E. Take NY-417 E, PA-44 S, and US-6 E to Lyman Run Rd in West Branch Township to arrive at the destination.
If you are coming from Pittsburgh, start by taking PA-28 N, I-80 E, PA-255 N, PA-555 E, and PA-872 N to E Fork Rd in Wharton Township. Turn right onto E Fork Rd and then turn right again onto PA-44 S. After continuing on W Branch Rd, drive to Lyman Run Rd to arrive at the destination.

Wildlife found throughout Lyman Run State Park includes bobcats, coyotes, white-tailed deer, black bears, and wild turkeys. Migratory waterfowl can be spotted flying in and nesting during the spring months.

There are two separate campgrounds at Lyman Run State Park that combine for a total of 29 modern electric campsites for RV camping. There are several modern tent sites in each campground as well.
Pets are allowed in the day-use area as well as certain designated campsites. Pets are not allowed in the sandy beach area or swimming area at Lyman Run State Park.
Summers at the park can get very warm and sunny, while winters are often cold and snowy. The spring and fall months are mild and sometimes rainy but full of beautiful colors.
