Kelleys Island State Park RV & Campground Guide

Ohio

Kelleys Island State Park presents the perfect view of limestone cliffs, crystal caverns, and the beautiful Lake Erie. The island was formed during the glacial period when massive ice sheets entered Ohio. Before the war of 1812, the area was occupied by Ottawa and Huron Indian tribes at different times throughout the years; European settlers eventually moved the tribes out. Over time, islanders soon realized that the cultivation of grapes was very profitable, and sometimes, they called Kelleys Island "Wine Island." Two major cities near the state park are Sandusky and Marblehead.
