- John Bryan State Park
Mound Builders and the Shawnee Native Americans were the first people to explore the beauty of this land. John Bryan State Park has 100 different trees and shrubs and 340 species of wildflowers that enhance this area's exquisiteness. This 752-acre park also contains a remarkable limestone gorge by the Little Miami River. Over time, each layer of limestone and shale bedrock was covered by warm, shallow seas or was scoured by slow-moving glacial ice. As the glacier retreated with warm temperatures, the gorge valley began to provide a suitable habitat for many plant species. The closest cities near the state park are Cedarville, Fairborn, and Springfield.
