Hueston Woods State Park covers 3,000 acres along the southwestern border of Ohio where it meets Indiana. The park includes Acton Lake, a 592-acre man-made lake that offers some of the state's best fishing opportunities. A dense, 200-acre, old-growth forest of mature beech and sugar maple is designated a National Natural Landmark by the National Park Service. Several small communities, including College Corner, Oxford and Israel Township, surround the park. Camden, 10 miles to the east, is the largest community in the area.

Hueston Woods State Park Campground

Hannon’s Camp America

Hannon’s Camp America sits 1 mile west of Hueston Woods State Park Campground, just outside of College Corner, OH. The park offers 28 RV campsites with electric hookups. The campsites are spacious and covered with grass, and most sites are shaded. Hannon’s Camp America even provides a dump station near the entrance. Hiking trails, a regulation-sized football field, two playgrounds, restrooms with flush toilets, a shower house and a camp store are included in the amenities visitors find at this campground.

Whitewater Memorial State Park

Fifteen miles west of Hueston Woods State Park and across the Ohio/Indiana border lies Whitewater Memorial State Park. Whitewater offers 236 RV campsites with electricity. The campground does not provide any water or sewer hookups for RVs; however, it has restrooms with flush toilets and warm showers, as well as a dump station. A camp store offers firewood, snacks and a boat rental concession. Visitors have direct access to the 200-acre Whitewater Lake via a boat launch. Some of the favorite activities at Whitewater Memorial State Park are swimming, fishing, hunting, hiking, picnicking and horseback riding.

Inside Hueston Woods State Park

Hueston Woods State Park provides an incredible number of activities within its grounds. There are 10 miles of hiking trails, most of which wander through the 200-acre old-growth forest and around the lake. A 1,500-foot beach provides a beautiful swimming area during the summer, and an indoor swimming pool at the lodge offers an opportunity for visitors to swim during the winter months. Angling in the lake is excellent, with ample supplies of largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, catfish, saugeye, bullhead and carp. A boat launch is provided, but boaters must obey the 10-mph speed limit while on the lake. Visitors without boats can rent one at the local concession. Nature programs provide a valuable educational experience for adults and children alike. During the winter, many cross-country skiers visit the park.

How to Get to
Hueston Woods State Park

Everyone approaches Hueston Woods State Park through Israel Township, OH. To get to the park from Israel Township, travel southwest on Sycamore Grove Road until you reach the Main Loop Road. Turn left on Main Route Road an continue for 1 mile, then turn right onto Cabin Beach Road. After 500 feet, turn slightly left onto Cabin Road and follow signs to the park.

To approach Israel Township from the west, travel through College Corner on County Line Road toward Eaton Street. Take Eaton Street, which merges onto Camden College Corner Road. Travel the 6 miles to Israel Township. To approach Israel Township from the south, travel through Oxford, OH. The trip is only 7 miles, and the entire route is along Ohio Highway 732 North (OH-732 N), which takes you directly into Israel Township. Getting to Israel Township from the east is just as easy. Visitors from the east travel through Camden, taking Ohio Highway 725 West (OH-725 W) for 7 miles and turning left to follow OH-732 S for another 2 miles into Israel Township from Camden.
