Letchworth State Park RV & Campground Guide

New York

Sprawling across more than 14,000 acres in central-western New York’s scenic Livingston and Wyoming counties, Letchworth State Park is an outdoor adventure lover’s paradise, offering hiking, biking, and watersports opportunities galore. The park follows the course of the Genesee River as it winds its way through the landscape, providing visitors with the chance to glimpse several stunning waterfalls along with its miles of backcountry trails. These falls cascade along the sides of the steep gorge carved by the river throughout the ages, giving the area the unique distinction and honor of being considered the “Grand Canyon of the East.” It was even voted New York state’s best attraction in 2017 -- and considering all the amazing things to see and do in the Empire State, that’s a pretty serious distinction!

Along with waterfalls that sometimes tower as high as 600 feet above the river below, and all the fun summertime activities this water landscape affords, Letchworth State Park is also renowned for its winter sports opportunities. Snow tubing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling are all popular diversions throughout the state’s lengthy freeze season, and guests can enjoy thawing out and refreshing at the historic Glen Iris Inn, which is open seasonally for overnight stays as well as breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The park is also well-known as a hunting destination, offering the chance to capture both big game animals and wild turkeys.

There’s so much to see and do in this scenic New York State gem, especially for RVers. Read on to learn more about how to maximize your Letchworth State Park vacatioN!
