Glimmerglass State Park is a popular recreation area commonly visited by both tourists and locals, and it is located just north of Cooperstown, New York. The majority of the park is contained within the town of Springfield in Otsego County, New York. It is known for its many exciting activities, including camping, fishing, ice fishing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling. The park gets its name from its location on the east shore of Otsego Lake on the beautiful Hyde Bay. This is known as the "Glimmerglass" in James Fenimore Cooper’s "Leatherstocking Tales." The two nearest major U.S. cities to Glimmerglass State Park are New York City and Boston. If you are coming from New York City, you will first want to get onto FDR Drive from Frankfort Street and Spruce Street. Then, continue along FDR Drive from NJ-17 N, I-87 N, and I-90 W to Duanesburg. Next, take Exit 24 from I-88 W. Lastly, you will take US-20 W to Springfield, where you will reach Glimmerglass State Park.
If you are coming from Boston, you will begin the route by getting onto I-93 S from Sudbury Street. Next, drive from I-90 W to Duanesburg and take Exit 24 from I-88 W.
