Located on the Eastern Plains of New Mexico, Santa Rosa Lake State Park offers many opportunities for adventure seekers. Bring your boat to play on the 3,500-acre lake that is fed by the Pecos River. You'll feel like an explorer as you paddle your kayak to the islands in the middle of the lake. In summer, water skiers practice their skiing at this lake that was created when the Santa Rosa Dam was constructed. Grab your fishing pole and tackle to catch largemouth and smallmouth bass, channel catfish, walleye, crappie, sunfish, and yellow perch. This park is about 8 miles north of Santa Rosa, 124 miles east of Albuquerque, and 140 miles north of Roswell.

At this state park, playing on the water is the most popular activity. You can go boating in motorized and non-motorized vessels, which you can launch from the boat dock. The fishing is often great because the nearby dam keeps the water warmer than in other nearby lakes, and the state regularly stocks this lake. If you feel like staying dry, take a stroll on the paved paths.
How to Get to
Santa Rosa Lake State Park
You can easily reach this park from Interstate 40 in New Mexico. First, get off at the Santa Rosa exit. Keep right at the fork to get on U.S. 54 W/U.S. Route 66. Turn right on 2nd Street in Santa Rosa and right on Eddy Avenue. After that, turn left on North 8th Street. You should come to New Mexico 91 right in front of you. Follow it for about 6.6 miles to get to the park.
