Spruce Run Recreation Area is surrounded by the rolling hills of Hunterdon County and covers 1,290 acres with 15 miles of shoreline. Spruce Run is about 16 miles west of Phillipsburg, northwest of Clinton and Glen Gardner. Visitors come to see the gorgeous moonlight views over the reservoir, wildlife, and water leisure activities. It's the third-largest reservoir in New Jersey after Wanaque and Round Valley reservoir and is used for recreational purposes like fishing, swimming, and boating. Many waterfowl roam the area and are permitted to be hunted on a seasonal basis.

MountainView Campground
MountainView Campground sits within a few miles of Interstate 78 and is nestled on the south side of the Musconetcong Mountains. Stephens State Park Campground
Less than 22 miles from Spruce Run, you'll come to Stephens State Park Campground, which sits in another great state park. The campground has 40 sites for tents and small trailers, and all have a fire ring and a picnic table. Some of the campsites have water and electrical hookups and are within walking distance of all of the state park's activities. Amenities available here are a dump station, showers, restrooms, and a playground. Pets are welcome.
Triple Brook Camping Resort
Triple Brook Camping Resort sits near the Delaware Water Gap and provides daily and seasonal sites with water, electric, and sewer hookups. Pets are welcome. Some amenities included here are a camping store, a propane filling station, a family pool with water slide, and a separate adult pool area with a heated whirlpool.

Visitors enjoy the challenge of catching 29 species of fish in Spruce Run, including catfish, carp, largemouth bass, sunfish, and yellow perch; it's seasonally stocked with hybrid, bass, trout, and northern pike. The reservoir is the ideal place for a family outing of boating, sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, and canoeing. Many visitors come to spend time at the beach, where you'll find lifeguards on duty from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The beach complex also contains a first aid station, restrooms, showers, and changing areas. Other things to do inside this recreational area are hiking, biking, camping, picnicking, and cookouts.

Spruce Run Recreation Area
Spruce Run Recreation Area is in the city of Clinton and is accessible using NJ-31, which runs north to south from Clinton, New Jersey, to Glen Gardner, New Jersey. From NJ-31, take Van Syckles Road for about 1.5 miles, and the park's entrance will be on the left.
