Moose Lake State Park is located in eastern Minnesota amongst fields, woods, and ponds. The quiet location makes this park a popular destination for hiking, fishing, kayaking, and enjoying a picnic with a lake view. Moose Lake State Park's mix of fields, woods, and ponds provides a unique habitat for the wildlife in the area. The park also features a mix of basswood, birch, and maple trees, making it one of the better options in the state to view the fall colors when the leaves change.

RV Resorts & Campsites in Moose Lake State Park
Moose Lake State Park offers 33 semi-modern camping sites in its lone campground. The Moose Lake Campground is split into three loops, with the southern loop housing all of the sites with electric hookups, while the northern loop only has non-electric sites. There are two parking areas located in the southern loop, while the middle loop has one parking area. The small loop at the campground's north end has no extra parking areas. Moose Lake Campground is pet-friendly and features a restroom with showers, water, and vault toilets. Each campsite comes with a picnic table, fire ring, and grill and can accommodate an RV up to 60 feet in length.

Moose Lake State Park
While Moose Lake State Park is known as a quiet refuge, there are plenty of activities for you to enjoy. Camping, hiking, canoeing, and fishing are popular options when visiting the park. If you are into nature and artifacts, make sure to visit the Agate Center, which has informative displays and features collections of Lake Superior agates. If you forget any sporting equipment, you can grab a fishing kit, birding kit, or GPS unit for free from the park office.
Fishing
Anglers can expect to catch bass, northern pike, and panfish when casting a line into Echo Lake. A boat launch can be found in the eastern bay, while a fishing pier is located on the northern side of the lake. A fishing license is required; you can get one online before arriving.
Geocaching
Geocaching is a popular adventure that can be enjoyed in the park. Grab a GPS unit from the park office, or use your smartphone to find a cache.
Nature Watching
The serene settings of the park make it an excellent place for nature watching. Visitors can spot white-tailed deer, geese, ducks, and numerous songbirds.
Stargazing
Moose Lake State Park is far enough away from any major city where light pollution will not cloud your vision when looking up at the stars. The best place to view the stars is from the beach.
Hiking
There are three hiking trails within the park. The Rolling Hills Trail is the one used by the hiking club and takes you through tall pine trees and prairie habitats. The Wildlife Pond Trail is a 1.2-mile loop that goes around a pond, providing an up-close view of nesting ducks, geese, and trumpeter swans.
Boating
Small and medium-sized boats can access Echo Lake via a boat launch in the eastern bay. The boat launch is also the staging area for the park's row boat, canoe, and kayak rentals.
Swimming
A designated swimming area with a sandy beach is located on the northern side of Echo Lake. This swim area can be reached by hiking along Echo Lake Trail.
Biking
Bicycling is available on the nearby Willard Munger State Trail. This trail extends for 60 miles between Hinckley and Duluth.
How to Get to
Moose Lake State Park
Moose Lake State Park is located at 4252 Co Rd 137, Moose Lake, MN 55767. If you are traveling to the park from Minneapolis, MN, you will need to take I-35 N. Continue along I-35 N until you reach exit 214 for MN-73 toward Moose Lake. Once you exit the freeway, you will turn right onto Co Rd 137 for 0.3 miles, and then you will turn right into the park.
Entering Moose Lake State Park
The park is open daily from 8 am to 10 pm. Once you enter the park, you will approach the park office and Agate Center along with a parking area. If you make a right turn just past the park office, you will head towards the parking lot nearest the swimming area. If you turn to the left, you will head towards the campground while passing the boat launch. The fishing pier can be reached by driving straight after passing the park office.
