Bay City State Park is a 2,000-acre recreational area with wooded wetlands, ridges, marsh ponds, and a shoreline that stretches for about a mile. While camping here on Saginaw Bay, you can enjoy swimming, hiking, biking, fishing, and much more. The climate of Bay City, Michigan, is generally pleasant, with most days of the year being sunny, but the winters can get really cold. The best time to visit the area is between May and October, and there is so much to enjoy inside and outside the state park in cities such as Saginaw, Midland, and Alma.

Bay City State Park Campground
This is the main campground in Bay City State Park and the surrounding areas. The campground has 189 campsites all of which fit a 50-foot RV or trailer. You must have a reservation. All campsites offer electrical hookups with some having 50-amp hookups. Better yet, there is a generator to power the sites if there is a challenge with electricity. While some sites feature a camping pad, most of them are natural areas with grass where you park your RV. There are trees to protect you from the hot summer sun when you are inside or outside the RV. Each campsite can park up to 6 RVs. A picnic table and a fire pit are provided to enhance the fun inside the campground. You can bring your pets as long as you keep them restrained and pick after them. In the fire pit, you can only burn approved wood, which you can purchase from the nearby town or the campground. Any other type of wood, whether from inside or outside the park, is not allowed. There are water spigots and water spots scattered in different parts of the campground, so you will only walk a few minutes to access water. There are also modern restrooms available. Camping rates start at $25 per night for a 20/30 amp hookup.

Finn Road Park Campground
Located in Essexville, Michigan, Finn Road Park Campground has 57 campsites where you can park your RV. It is a great spot for anyone who wants to enjoy nature. The back-in campsites accommodate 50-feet long trailers and RVs. Unlike the Bay City State Park campground, the site surface is asphalt or concrete, so you never deal with dust or mud. However, there are grassy fields around the site for campers who want to enjoy a picnic. Pets are allowed into the park, but you need to keep them on a leash and pick after them. All sites offer full hookups for water and electricity, with some sites offering a 50 amp electricity hookup. Modern restrooms and showers are available at every campsite. Better yet, you have access to Wi-Fi, and your phone will connect to all networks with ease. Rates start at $26 a night.

Inside Bay City State Park
Inside the park, are three observation towers, viewing platforms, one mile of shoreline, boardwalks, trails, and picnic areas. One of the main activities in the park is wildlife viewing and bird watching. You can also engage in a host of water activities such as fishing and swimming. The visitors center is also a fun spot to visit; here, you can explore Jennison Exhibit Hall, the Wetland Wonders Shoppe, and the Wildlife Observation Room. Be sure to also observe different parts of the park from the visitors center, especially if you do not love hiking.
How to Get to
Bay City State Park
Bay City State Park sits 30 minutes north of Saginaw, Michigan. From Saginaw, get on I-675 N from S Washington Ave. Continue on I-675 N before taking I-75 N to M-13 in Monitor Charter Township. Take Exit 164, and you will drive right to the park after driving for about 25 minutes.
