Yatesville Lake State Park is located on a wide peninsula on the eastern side of Yatesville Lake in Kentucky. The focal point of the park is the lake, which was created when a dam was constructed across Blaine Creek by the Army Corps of Engineers in 1988 for flood control. The park opened its doors in 1992 and is now a popular destination for its outdoor recreation activities, golf course, marina, and campground.

RV Resorts & Campsites in Yatesville Lake State Park
Lake Pleasant Ridge Campground in Yatesville Lake State Park is the only campground along the lake. This camping area includes the Blaine and Greenbriar Loops. Campground amenities include a dump station, a playground, restrooms with showers, and a laundry room. The Lake Pleasant Ridge Campground offers full hookups and can accommodate RVs up to 35 feet long. Each campsite includes a picnic table, a gravel pad, and a fire pit. The maximum occupancy per campsite is eight people.

Yatesville Lake State Park
Yatesville Lake is often the highlight of a trip to the state park, and it is popular for boating, jet skiing, fishing, and swimming. You will find excellent places to view birds at the dam and marina when visiting. Camping, picnicking, hiking, and golfing are other fun ways to spend time at Yatesville Lake State Park.
Fishing
This park is known for having the best bluegill fishing in Eastern Kentucky. In addition, you may catch catfish, smallmouth and largemouth bass, catfish, and crappie in the lake. Anglers can fish from shore, the jetty at the marina, or by boat.
Geocaching
Several visitors have hidden caches in Yatesville Lake State Park over the years, and you can find one with your smartphone or GPS device. After you do, you can take a souvenir and sign the logbook. Remember to bring an item along to leave in the container for the next treasure hunter.
Nature Watching
Numerous birds are native to eastern Kentucky and can be found in Yatesville Lake State Park throughout the year. Some birds that you will be excited to spot are bald eagles, ospreys, warblers, doves, wild turkeys, woodpeckers, and cardinals. While exploring, you may also spot raccoons, deer, muskrats, snakes, bobcats, foxes, and chipmunks.
Hiking
Hiking is a wonderful way to take in the park's natural beauty, and three trails are available and suitable for all skill levels. The 2-mile Pleasant Ridge Trail is family-friendly and starts close to the campground. The Mary Ingles Trail system offers both a rugged 2.5-mile hike through the woods and an ADA-accessible interpretive trail where you can learn more about the local wildlife and native plants.
Stargazing
On a clear night, the sky over Yatesville Lake State Park is a celestial wonderland. To fully enjoy the view, head to an area of the park with minimal lights, such as on the lake's shore away from the marina.
Boating
Personal watercraft as well as motorized craft such as speed boats and jet skis are permitted on Yatesville Lake. There are boat ramps available to launch from the marina or the campground. Many campers take advantage of the outdoor recreation area's boat-in sites, accessible only by boat for secluded lakeside camping.
Swimming
Yatesville Lake is recognized for its clear, crisp waters. Visitors can swim from the shore or a boat. Tubing close to the shoreline is also popular.
How to Get to
Yatesville Lake State Park
Yatesville Lake State Park is located in a remote area north of Paintsville and west of Louisa. From Louisa, follow Highway 32 west. Turn north of Route 3215. This road leads to the park's entrance. From Paintsville, the fastest way to reach the park is to take Highway 23 north to Louisa. However, a more scenic route is to take Route 201 north to Blaine. In Blaine, turn east on Highway 23. Follow this road to Route 2315 to enter the park.
Entering Yatesville Lake State Park
Parking is available near the entrance, the marina, and the campground. Several parking spaces in the lots at the marina and entrance are handicap accessible. The park's office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

While Yatesville Lake State Park is open year-round, its water-based activities are best enjoyed in the summer. However, if your focus is golfing, hiking, or fishing, you may want to arrive in early fall or late spring for milder weather.
