Wilson State Park RV & Campground Guide

Kansas

Wilson State Park, in the Smoky Hills region of Kansas, is one of the best spots in Kansas to fish, hike, waterski, or spend time outside. The 945-acre park, on the Wilson Reservoir, has two areas, Hell Creek and Otoe. There are day use areas, as well as camping, a swimming beach, boating access, a marina, and hiking and biking trails. The Dakota Trail provides one of the best views of the sweeping prairie and the reservoir, and the Switchgrass Bike Trail is a beautiful 10-mile ride. There’s also an accessible, paved one-mile loop trail. Also, spend some time looking for deer, bobwhite quail, songbirds, migratory birds, and waterfowl who spend their time on and near the reservoir.

Weather at the park tends to be dry, with little rain most of the year. May is the rainiest month of the year. It does get cold in winter - lows are around 17F. Summers don’t get too hot, with a high around 93F.
