- Meade State Park
Southwestern Kansas only has one state park, so when you visit Meade State Park, you'll understand why some refer to it as the “Oasis on the Plains.” This Kansas state park is a combined 520 acres large between the 80-acre Meade State Park Fishing Lake and the surrounding 440 acres of countryside. The state of Kansas purchased this piece of land from Turkey Track Ranch and turned it into a state park that opened in 1927.
Today, people like to visit this state park in order to take advantage of the lake and its nearby areas. Anglers, boaters, and swimmers can spend time on and in the water, while hikers and bikers can explore the pathways around the lake. An adjacent wildlife area provides an additional 360 acres for hunting and wildlife watching.
