Hillsdale State Park is a sizable public recreation area located near Paola, a city in Miami County, Kansas. The state park was developed along the shore of Hillsdale Lake in the eastern region of Kansas in 1982 and opened to the public in 1994. Hillsdale, specifically, is one of the newest reservoirs in the state and is part of a flood control plan designed for the area. Moreover, the park offers a beautiful setting in the rolling hills of Kansas just adjacent to Kansas City’s best urban attractions. The public recreation area has a relatively high elevation of 928 feet and is currently governed by the Kansas Department of Wildlife. A few Kansas cities you can easily access from Hillsdale State Park include Gardner, Ottawa, and Olathe.

In addition, an amphitheater located on the premises offers visitors a compelling cinematic experience that also provides valuable education about the region. How to Get to
Hillsdale State Park
Kansas City, Kansas, and St. Louis, Missouri, are the two cities that people travel to Hillsdale State Park from most often. Coming from Kansas City, get onto I-35 S from Truman Road. Follow I-35 S and KS-7 S/US-169 S to West 255th Street in Marysville, and then, take the 255th Street exit from KS-7 S/US-169 S. You will arrive after continuing on West 255th Street to your destination in Richland.
From St. Louis, get onto I-64 W/US-40 W. After continuing on I-64 W, take I-70 W to KS-7 S/US-169 S/South Harrison Street/South Woodland Street in Olathe. Take exit 215 from I-35 S. You will arrive after driving along KS-7 S/US-169 S to your destination in Richland.
