Located on the southern Iowa border with Missouri, Nine Eagles State Park features over 1,000 acres of trees, beach area, and grassland. Open year-round with hours beginning early in the morning, this vibrant park is known for its hiking trails, local wildlife, and a 64-acre lake, which has been expanded by the Civilian Conservation Corps and later by a private organization. Nine Eagles is near Davis City and just under 90 miles from Des Moines and 130 miles away from Kansas City, MO, with both city-to-park trips using I-35 for the primary route. The park's climate gets an average of 205 sunny days per year, 39 inches of rain per year, and 22 inches of snow per year.

Nine Eagles State Park Campground
Nine Eagles State Park, located at 23678 Dale Miller Road in Davis City, Iowa, features three separate campgrounds. A gravel trail connects the campgrounds to each other and to the lake, so the whole park is really at your fingertips when you stay here. Out of 68 sites, 28 feature electrical hookups. The campground has full bathrooms and a dump station for RVs. One-quarter of the sites are given out on a first-come, first-served basis, and the others can be reserved online through the park's reservation system. Electric sites cost $16 per night.
Ted's RV Park
Located just north of Nine Eagles in Decatur City, Ted's RV Park features 26 spots in its campground. Ted's is pet-friendly, and the park has showers and laundry facilities, with a restaurant soon to be added. RV rates are $30 per night, but if you're staying for six nights, you get the seventh night free. For the RV camper looking to stay as long as a month, it's only $460 for the stay, an average of just over $15 per night.
Eagle Ridge RV Park
The next closest RV park to Nine Eagles is just a little further south on I-35 in northern Missouri. Eagle Ridge RV Park, located at 22708 W 182nd Street, Eagleville, Missouri, features full hookups, wi-fi at some locations, showers, laundry, and a swimming pool. It is also pet friendly. Nightly rates are $39 to $44 per night depending on the spot, but there is a $4 discount per night with a Good Sam membership, AAA membership, or for members of the military. Weekly stays are $210 for the entire week, which is quite a discount.

Nine Eagles State Park features many points of interest. The 64-acre Nine Eagles Lake allows for both swimming and fishing opportunities, and a playground sits nearby the beach for younger campers. Nine miles of wooded hiking trails await travelers, and an additional seven miles of horse trails are also available for equestrians. The lush cover of trees allows for pleasant picnicking opportunities as well as wildlife observation and photography.
How to Get to
Nine Eagles State Park
If you're coming to the park from Des Moines, the trip to the park is fairly straightforward; you simply drive south out of town on I-35 and follow the highway toward the southern state line. You then take Exit 4, turn left onto U.S. Route 69, and turn right onto County Road J66, also known as Dale Miller Road. It winds for a bit but leads you directly to the park's entrance, which is on the right-hand side of the road.
If you are traveling north from the next largest city of Kansas City, MO, the trip is similarly simple. In this case, you simply travel north on I-35 until just over the Iowa state border. From there, you take Exit 4, turn right onto US Route 69, and then turn right onto County Road J66, which leads to the park's entrance.
