Water and nature lovers alike are sure to have a great time at Killens Pond State Park. From hiking and biking trails to a complete cross-country running course to a waterpark and the 66-acre millpond, there is something for everyone of all ages at the State Park. Some of the exciting things to do include:
Water Activities – The centerpiece of Killens Pond State Park is the 66-acre millpond, which has a convenient boat launching ramp available. Anglers can have their chance to snag largemouth bass, catfish, carp, perch, crappie, bluegills, pickerel and more. A fishing license is required to fish.
Even if you don’t want to fish, you can still enjoy the pond! Canoes, kayaks and pedal boats are available for rental during the summer for pond exploration and fun, and there is a water trail up the Murderkill River.
Killens Pond Water Park – Open from Memorial Day through Labor Day, the Killens Pond Water Park offers lots of water fun – no pond necessary! The main pool has a zero-depth entrance that makes getting in and out of the water a breeze, plus there is a tot pool and tot lot that includes bubblers, groundwater jets, small slides and a pool-side waterplay system for the youngest visitors. For those looking for more excitement, there are two speed slides and two spiral slides with tunnels, starting from 54 feet in the air.
A food concession stand and swim shop are also on site, so everything you need for a day of fun in the sun is right there! A separate per-person admission fee is charged at the waterpark. From mid-June to mid-August, the waterpark is open daily.Click here for more information.
Hiking and Nature Activities – There are several miles of hiking, biking and running trails inside the park, including a cross-country running course. All trails wind through several types of habitat so you can take in a variety of native plants and animals! Killens Pond State Park also has an 18-hole disc golf course and game courts and ball fields, plus picnic areas for a shaded break or mealtime. Pavilions are available to reserve for larger group events.
The Killens Pond Nature Center is another great way to experience nature, regardless of what the weather is like outside. It features a permanent exhibit of local reptiles and amphibians and can also be rented for meetings or private, larger events.
Fork Branch Nature Preserve – The 257-acre Fork Branch Nature Preserve is the second largest forest tract in the St. Jones River watershed and coastal plain pond wetlands. It is home to mature upland forest and a variety of migratory and resident birds, including barred owls, Red-Shouldered Hawk, Prothonotary Warbler and much more. Enjoy a hike or run on the Loop Trail and take it all in!

During the fall months, the trees in Killens Pond State Park turn into an array of spectacular colors. In the winter, the park is a winter wonderland for those who enjoy snowshoeing and beautiful snowy scenery.

Reservations are not required at the park, but they are strongly recommended. Reservations can be made a year in advance. Campers are not charged an additional fee when making reservations.
Killens Pond State Park welcomes dogs, cats, and horses. Horses must stay on horse-designated trails. Dogs must be licensed and have proof of rabies vaccination. They must be on leashes no longer than six feet except in off-leash designated areas.
