Blue jays, crows, and other birds drive off the seabirds, so it is essential that the other birds do not learn that they can get food from the campers at this state park.
How to Get to
Portola Redwoods State Park
In order to get to this state park from Interstate 280 N, take exit 16, which is the El Monte Road exit. Turn left onto Moody Road. Then, turn left onto Paige Mill Road. Merge onto Alpine Road. Go 3 miles and turn on Portola State Park Road. When that road comes to a dead end, you have reached the park. Be aware that this drive will take you between 90 and 120 minutes, and there is no place to get gasoline along the way.
If you are coming to the park from La Honda, then head west on Entrada Way. Turn left on California Highway 84W. Make another left once you reach Pescadero Creek Road. Merge onto Alpine Road. Go 3 miles and turn on Portola State Park Road to reach the state park. This drive will take you about 60 minutes, and there is no place to get gas along the way.

The park is open from 6:00 a.m. to sunset, and the visitors center is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Buses of up to 24 people are $50 to enter. Buses of more than 25 people cost $100 to enter.
