Leo Carrillo State Park is located on the Pacific coast in Los Angeles County in an area removed from cities and services. The closest cities are Malibu, which is southeast of the park, Thousand Oaks to the north, and Oxnard to the northeast. Leo Carrillo State Park is part of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area and is made up of 1.5 miles of beachfront.

Inside Leo Carrillo State Park
Leo Carrillo is a great spot for all manner of water activities, including swimming, surfing, and windsurfing. You can also do some surf fishing and snorkeling. There's plenty of wildlife and natural scenery viewing opportunities at Leo Carrillo and plenty of hiking fun to be had. During the summer, you can participate in the campfire programs, and younger campers can join the junior ranger program.

Leo Carrillo State Park is most easily accessed by way of U.S. Highway 1. From the north, you'll be coming out of Oxnard on the 1 and from the south, out of Malibu.
