If you want an iconic California road trip, look no farther than the Pacific Coast Highway. And some of the best parts of the PCH are between San Luis Obispo and Monterey on the central coast of California. Starting among the beautiful rolling hills and wineries of San Luis Obispo, this road trip will take you along the amazing coast of the Pacific Ocean to see some breathtaking views, elephant seals, Big Sur, and end in Monterey to view the variety of sea creatures at the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Just to the south of San Luis Obispo sitsChannel Islands National Park. This park is unique and incudes five of the Channel Islands. There’s hiking and tent camping on the islands, but you can only get there by plane or boat. While you can’t take your RV, you can grab a boat in Ventura and spend the day exploring the islands by hiking, kayaking, or scuba diving.
If you’re looking for a different landscape than the coast, head toPinnacles National Park. This national park was created by ancient volcano eruptions and is now home to the towering pinnacles that give the park its name. But you’ll see more than just rocks in this park.
