Outside, you'll have plenty to explore at a few favorite park locales including Dream Lake, Wild Basin, Glacier Gorge, and, of course, at the crown jewel of the park and its highest summit, Longs Peak. Stick around for a couple of days of camping, hiking, and fishing in some of the most stunningly beautiful mountains on earth. 

Indiana Sand Dunes National Park

Indiana Sand Dunes National Park welcomes you with miles of pristine Lake Michigan shoreline, moderate to challenging hikes, and exciting outdoor adventures such as the three-dune challenge. For a glimpse into the historical side of the park, visit Barker Mansion, a 19th-century architectural marvel that features tours, lectures, and a vibrant living history museum. The Michigan City Lighthouse and Old Lighthouse Museum are perfect for exploring the area's maritime history and should definitely make it onto your bucket list of places to see here. 

Cuyahoga Valley National Park

Cuyahoga Valley National Park is Ohio's only national park that's located not far from Cleveland's south side. Take your time exploring the park's 33,000 acres at a few notable destinations such as Brandywine Falls, Horseshoe Pond, and Tinker's Creek Gorge. A stop at the Brecksville Nature Center allows you to experience the wonder of the Cuyahoga Valley with nature trails that lead to glacial river valleys and fields of grass that are over eight feet tall.

In Salt Lake City, you'll have the pleasure of experiencing Temple Square, where you can tour Brigham Young's previous home, The Beehive House, marvel at the architecture of the Mormon Temple, and listen to the wondrous sounds of the Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra on Sunday mornings or Thursday evenings. 

The Old Market

The Old Market is fantastic for a day of shopping, eating, and experiencing Omaha's nightlife in a historic part of town. Hersheypark

A day at Hersheypark is a must as you make your way through Pennsylvania. Hop on a couple of the park's newest rides like Candymonium and Lightning Racer for some heart-pounding fun. Time in Chocolatetown treats you to more coasters and delicious confections at The Chocolatier, a full-service restaurant, and bar.

Boise, ID

Boise is a must-see city on your Portland to New Haven road trip. Some of the coolest places to visit are the Old Idaho Penitentiary for the history, the Basque Block for a full-on cultural experience, and Freak Alley Gallery for the amazing open-air art. Be sure to check out the Black Cliffs, the Boise Art Museum, and the State Capitol Building before you hit the road. New York, NY

In New York, you'll want to see all the usual hotspots and then some. Start with visits to some of NYC's classic attractions at Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Empire State Building; then, stroll the bustling streets of the city to a few memorable locations like the Ghostbusters Firehouse in Tribeca, the Sea Glass Carousel in Battery Park and the oldest luncheonette in the city at the Lexington Candy Shop. A trip off the beaten path takes you to Zaytoon's in Brooklyn to feast on an excellent plate of shawarma and a decadent slice of Blackout Cake at Ebinger's Bakery.
