This is also a great place to view the Mississippi River and to tour some historic buildings and museums. 

Hot Springs National Park  

If you want to add "The American Spa" to your road trip itinerary from Davenport to San Antonio, then you'll have to drive roughly four and a half hours east of Gainesville, Texas, to Hot Springs National Park. People obviously come here for the hot springs, but there's also a spa on the premises. Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park

Big Bend National Park  

In order to visit Big Bend National Park, you'll have to drive six hours west of San Antonio. This park is remote, but plenty of adventurers enjoy exploring its 801,000 acres. Since the park is located at a big bend in the Rio Grande, it's on the U.S./Mexico border. Kayaking on the Rio Grande is popular here and so are hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Plenty of trails take you by the river, through the mountains, and into the desert.

Wapsipinicon State Park  

Before you get too far down the road from Davenport, you should drive north of Springdale, Iowa, for about 40 minutes to Wapsipinicon State Park. The park is located on the Wapsipinicon River, so it's a great place to boat and fish. There are 3.5 miles of multi-use trails that are great for hiking and snowmobiling. If you brought your clubs along, you can play a round on the nine-hole golf course. Another favorite activity here is to explore Horse Thief Cave and Ice Cave.

El Dorado State Park  

The entrance to El Dorado State Park is only 10 minutes from El Dorado, Kansas, so it's a great place to relax on your Davenport to San Antonio RV road trip. El Dorado Lake is an excellent place to go boating, fishing, and swimming. Seven different trails provide great methods of exploration for hikers, bikers, and horseback riders. 

Lake Murray State Park

Lake Mineral Wells Trailway

Pedernales Falls State Park

The big draw is, of course, Pedernales Falls itself, but the Pedernales River is also a great place for boating, tubing, swimming, and fishing. Nearly 45 miles of trails of varying lengths and purposes cross the park, making this a quality location for hiking, biking, backpacking, and riding..
