After you enter the park and reach Madison Information Station, head north to explore the Norris Geyser Basin, which has the oldest geysers and is the hottest thermal area in the park. This area is home to the Steamboat Geyser, which is the world’s tallest geyser. Then, return to the information station and head south so that you can explore the Lower and Midway Geyser basins. Stop and see Grand Prismatic Spring as the bacteria in the water make it look like it is forming rainbows. Finally, visit the Upper Geyser Basin where you can see Old Faithful. 

Grand Teton National Park  

Using the south entrance to exit Yellowstone National Park means that you are less than seven miles from Grand Teton National Park. This gives you easy access during your Boise to Pueblo RV road trip to the Snake River, where you will want to go on a scenic float trip. These trips lasting about two hours are a great way to see wildlife and the area’s natural beauty. This is also a great place to set out on a 6.4-mile hike around Twin Lake. The hike, which is particularly beautiful in the springtime when the wildflowers are in bloom, is often secluded. Rocky Mountain National Park  

After you pass through Sinclair, Wyoming, on your road trip from Boise to Pueblo take the Wyoming 130 Highway exit to follow scenic roads down through Medicine Bow National Forest to arrive at Rocky Mountain National Park. A great way to see this park is to drive along Trail Ridge Road. Stop at the Coyote Valley Trailhead to take the short hike to view the start of the Colorado River. Next, stop at the Kawuneeche Visitor Center to watch a short film about the park and visit with the rangers to learn about special events occurring during your visit. Make your way further up the road to the Horowitz Site, where you can see many historic buildings on a summertime guided tour. Now, make your way to the Continental Divide and follow the short nature trail around Poudre Lake. Snap a selfie by the Continental Divide sign. Take a pitstop at the Alpine Visitor Center as it is the highest-elevation visitor center in the national park system. Before exiting the park, take time to enjoy the views at the Lava Wall, which usually stays covered in snow year-round, and at Rainbow Curve, which is the highest point in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.

Eagle Island State Park  

Beat the heat by playing on the waterslide at Eagle Island State Park, located near Boise. Challenge your friends to a game of golf on the disc golf course. This park has over five miles of trails that are open for horseback and hiking. There are ziplines to ride, and some are even open at night. In the winter, hit the slopes on innertubes at Snow Hill. 

Antelope Island State Park  

Play on the shores of the Great Salt Lake by stopping at Antelope Island State Park near Syracuse, Utah. Take a hike to see bison, pronghorn sheep, and mule deer. Pay attention to the unique rock formations as many are over 1.7 billion years old. Include a hike to Fielding Garr to see the oldest Anglo house in Utah that is still on its original foundation. 

Curt Gowdy State Park  

Curt Gowdy State Park is divided into seven sections located between Cheyenne and Laramie, Wyoming. Anglers will love fishing the Granite and North Crow reservoirs for rainbow trout. They will also want to fish Crystal Reservoir for rainbow and brown trout along with kokanee salmon. Check for special events, like concerts, occurring at the Hynds Lodge outdoor amphitheater. Kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and canoes are available to rent. You will love exploring this park’s trails on horseback or on foot. 

Lake Pueblo State Park

Climb aboard the unique Broadmoor Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway for a ride to the summit of Pike’s Peak. Enjoy stunning views of the mountain as the scenery constantly changes. This cog railroad is the highest of its type in the world. 

Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center  

Head to the visitor center at Garden of the Gods to go on a front-range climbing adventure with a guide. There are many miles of hiking and biking trails through the 300 unique red sandstone formations at this location near Colorado Springs, Colorado.
