Padre Island National Seashore

Padre Island National Seashore is the longest undeveloped barrier island in the world. As such, the seashore is a protected area for sea turtles and birds that live in rookeries here. The dunes, tidal flats, and prairies are also protected. Spanish shipwrecks of 1554 occurred here, and many artifacts are on display in local museums.
