William Howard Taft National Historic Site takes visitors on a journey through the early life and political career of the only man to serve as President and Chief Justice of the United States of America. The impressive Greek Revival birthplace and childhood home perfectly preserves Taft's legacy with educational exhibits explaining his boyhood upbringing and future political accomplishments, as well as the supportive role his first lady, Helen Taft, played throughout his illustrious career as a public servant. Ranger-led tours offer an informative and engaging experience that leaves patrons humbled and awestruck by Taft's strong familial background and his gentle yet powerful style of governing.

Things To Do Near William Howard Taft National Historic Site

At the William Howard Taft National Historic Site, the first building you'll encounter is the Taft Education Center, which features a short educational film about the park and a quaint bookstore where you can purchase a few souvenirs. The center also includes a special exhibit of an animatronic figure of Taft's son, Charlie Taft, who tells visitors about the Taft family history. Tour arrangements are also made at this location. On the ranger-led tour, you can peruse exhibits in four rooms of the fully restored birthplace of the 27th president and 10th chief justice.

How To Get To William Howard Taft National Historic Site

From Columbus, take I-71 S to Exit 3B in Cincinnati for William Howard Taft Road. Continue along William Howard Taft Road to Auburn Avenue. Take a left once you reach Southern Avenue. Parking will be on your right. The Taft House is busiest during the summer and early fall months, but occupancy is limited, so there's no need to worry about overcrowding.
