Morristown National Historical Park

See where George Washington and the troops he commanded stayed from December 1779 to June 1780 by visiting Morristown National Historical Park. The park includes the Ford Mansion designed by John Russel Pope, which is where George Washington lived with his wife Martha and their children. The park also consists of the Wick Cabin, where Major General Arthur St. Clair commanded the 2,000 Pennsylvania soldiers, and the surrounding property where the soldiers cut down over 600 acres of trees to keep warm during one of the coldest winters ever recorded in New Jersey. Additionally, the Guerin House is also part of this park and is the site where many horses were kept during that period, but American soldiers often cut down fences and stole from farmer Joshua Guerin and his family.
