Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore

Enormous sand dunes rise up to 450 feet above Lake Michigan at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. This is one of the Great Lakes' most iconic stretches of shoreline, and the contrast of the brilliant blue water with the bright white sand and green forest makes for a postcard-worthy scene. Sandy beaches and refreshing waves welcome swimmers and sunbathers; at the end of the day, the sunset turns the lake to breathtaking shades of pink and orange. Between visits to the beach, you can explore the park's hiking trails, paddle a river, or discover the fascinating maritime history of the region. The dunes are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, so the time is always right for an adventure.
