- Waterton Lakes National Park
Located just across the border from Glacier National Park in Montana, Waterton Lakes National Park in Alberta Canada is full of stunning Rocky Mountain landscapes. The 195 square mile park is known as one of the most beautiful places in the Canadian Rockies, and is home to wildflower filled meadows, pristine lakes, impressive waterfalls, and sweeping mountain valley vistas. Weather varies greatly throughout the year and the park is under snow for much of the year. While the park is open year round, the main season is July through early September when the snow melts and all the trails reopen. Facilities and amenities are located at the Waterton Park townsite, and many close during the winter months. During the summer, Waterton offers shopping, dining, camping, and access to many trails, including a hike to Cameron Falls. While the park a fantastic destination for hiking, you can also explore the park by taking a drive around Bison Paddock Loop Road to see the bison or taking the Red Rock Parkway to Red Rock Canyon. Spend some time on the stunning park lakes by renting a paddleboard or kayak. Or take a Waterton Lake boat tour to see the sights while learning more about the park.

This park offers more remote scenic hiking and biking trails and fishing in the rivers and lakes. Or head to Lethbridge to see the 3 other UNESCO World Heritage Sites that are nearby. These include Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park/Áísínai'pi, Head-Smashed-in Buffalo Jump/Estipah-skikikini-kots, and Dinosaur Provincial Park.
