The Rainy Lake Visitor Center is the most popular entrance to Voyageurs National Park because it has ample parking and offers access to the Gold Portage Trail. You can get to this entrance from Minneapolis by taking I-35 North to MN-33 North in Cloquet, about 134 miles. From there, you may get onto MN-33 North for 19 miles, and then take the US-53 ramp to merge onto US-53 for 62 more miles. After that, continue onto Speaker Irvin N. Anderson Memorial Highway for 52 miles, and then turn right onto Ness Road. After about 1.5 miles, continue onto County Highway 129. Continue 6.7 miles, and then turn left onto Meadowood Road to enter the park. Falls International Airport is in International Falls, Minnesota, about 10 miles from the Rainy Lake Visitor Center. From the airport, head southeast on Airport Road. After approximately one mile, turn left onto US-53 North. Continue on US-53 North for about three miles before turning right onto MN-11 East, following the signs for Voyageurs National Park and the Rainy Lake Visitor Center. Drive along MN-11 East for around nine miles before turning left onto County Road 96. Continue on County Road 96 for about one mile, and you will find the Rainy Lake Visitor Center on your right. No public transit services travel to and from this national park, so visitors must use their own transportation. Visitors may also access the park via boat from points along Rainy Lake, Kabetogama Lake, Ash River, Crane Lake, and Orr/Pelican Lake.
