Mount Revelstoke National Park in British Columbia is small (only 100 square miles) but impressive! Located near Yoho, Banff, and Glacier national parks, Mount Revelstoke offers visitors incredible views, a multitude of hikes, and a gorgeous scenic drive. Like the other national parks in the area, Mount Revelstoke National Park’s weather varies greatly by season. For full access to the park, including the summit road, visit during the summer months. Due to the high elevation and snow accumulation, many of the backcountry and higher elevation trails close in October and don’t open up until June. Trails in the valleys open in summer and some are available throughout the winter. Even during the summer months, the weather changes quickly so bring an extra layer! When visiting the park, don’t miss driving the 26-kilometer (16 mile) summit road called Meadows in the Sky Parkway which is open during the summer months. From the various viewpoints and lookouts you’ll have views of the Monashee and Selkirk Mountains. Or hike through the many different varieties of landscapes including rainforest, meadows, and alpine forests. During winter, skiing and snowshoeing are popular ways to enjoy this Canadian national park.
