Should you want to experience some bucolic relaxation in between the excitement provided by the Birmingham RV Show, you can visit Oak Mountain State Park, which is right on the outskirts of Birmingham. At almost 12,000 acres, it's the largest state park in Alabama. It's particularly popular for equestrians and people who enjoy mountain biking.
Perhaps the most convenient RV dump station in Birmingham is the one at the Flying J Travel Stop on Daniel Payne Drive. The dump station is open all year, and the price is quite reasonable at $10. If you're a member of the Flying J RV Plus Club for RVers, then you get a $5 discount too.
The Birmingham RV Show features speakers and seminars by professionals in the RV industry. Speakers this year include RV Life experts Dave and Cheri Helgeson. Seminar topics include boondocking, dry camping, and RVing for beginners.
The BJCC has several venues, and each one has concessions stands, restrooms, and meeting rooms.

Although there are no accommodations for RVs at the BJCC, there are several RV parks in and near Birmingham that'll fit the bill. The Hoover Met Complex RV Park is a good example. There are 170 paved RV campsites that include full hookups, complimentary Wi-Fi, and weekly trash service. As long as there is no other event going on at the complex, you can use the fitness center and pickleball courts.
The Birmingham South RV Park is 18 miles from downtown Birmingham. Each campsite has full hookups and cable television that includes HDTV. There's a playground for children, a dog run, and on-site laundry facilities. This campground has a few of its 99 campsites that can accommodate big rigs as well.
If you prefer a different luxury experience to RV camping, then you can stay at the Elyton Hotel, which is a Marriott property. The hotel is cozy with just 111 rooms, so be sure to book ahead of time. You can lounge on the roof and watch the moon on clear nights, and you can also ask the concierge for information on tickets to other events, shows, and sporting contests.
For a bit more privacy and quaint hospitality, check out the Hassinger Daniels Mansion Bed and Breakfast, where you can relax in Victorian luxury. You'll dine on fine china under crystal chandeliers and then join together for tea in the afternoon.
From Atlanta, GA: Proceed west on Route 70, which will take you to Birmingham.
From Chattanooga, TN: Take Route 59 southwest to Birmingham.
From Memphis, TN: Take Route 78 southeast until it becomes Route 22. Continue southeast to Birmingham.
The BJCC has nearly 15,000 parking spaces available. Even so, the BJCC's website recommends reserving a parking space for events so that you can be sure of having someplace to park. You need a credit card to reserve a space.
Tickets, available at the show, are $12.50 for anyone 17 years of age and up while those 16 and under get in free. Cash isn't accepted.
