If you are looking for Rochester camping sites that are more primitive than those at some of the more ritzy resorts, then you’ll love Rice Lake State Park. This is a beautiful park with lush forests and tons of trails to hike through. There is great bird-watching with a huge variety of land and waterfowl, woodland creatures, and awesome wildflowers.
The amenities at this park are pretty sparse, but they are enough to take care of essential needs. The sites are electric only with no hookups, but they are level and fairly large. There are some planned nature activities throughout the year that you can find out about at the office. Some restaurants and grocery stores are nearby in Owatonna that you can check out. There are also boat rentals available.
“Showers and restrooms are in the non-electric ‘A’ loop are old and dark but kept clean. Nice hiking trails, but the woods are very buggy– big flies and hungry mosquitos abound.” – Anderson, RV Park Review
